Britney Wagoner, LGMFT

Individual + Couples Specialist
Licensed Graduated Marriage + Family Therapist

Welcome to our practice. I’m Britney, one of the specialists who serves residents of Virginia at the practice. In addition to my extensive work with individuals and couples who reside in the area, I’ve traveled to many parts of the world and have a unique understanding of military life and the struggles that active military families and veterans face.  If you’re currently experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, or problems within a relationship, marriage, or with your children, I’m your person.

You can’t choose the circumstances you’re born into, but you can learn to navigate your life and relationships in a direction you feel good about. For many of us, this requires skills we don’t have. In therapy, we identify and tackle the core of the challenges you are facing and equip you to take new actions that lead to progress.

You may be wondering why you are doing well in some areas, while falling short in others. You have an idea of what you want your life and relationships to look and feel like, but it’s not coming together the way you envisioned. One of my strengths is presenting new possibilities and solutions to problems that leave you feeling stuck. I take the time to understand you and your entire story, then help you make important connections. You will gain the awareness and skills to “turn” unhealthy thoughts, behaviors, and relationships around.

I can assure you that getting stuck in an unhealthy pattern or relationship doesn’t define you. Though feeling stuck or unable to resolve your issues can trigger many negative feelings. We deal with all of it in therapy. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I confidently improve the ways people function and feel about their life and love on a daily basis. There’s a science behind therapy that has equipped me with tools to help you think, communicate, and relate differently to almost everything around you. I bring a unique understanding and ability to relate to your journey. Whether working with individuals, couples, or adolescents, I meet people where they are and help them rise to where they want to be. My work will provide a clear, structured path to help you:

Recognize and express your emotional needs more effectively
Improve your communication skills in various settings
Provide tools to identify and reduce anxiety and/or depression
Make hard decisions with clarity and confidence

Reduce trauma-related symptoms
Develop greater emotional intelligence and awareness
Establish a secure connection with your partner and family members
Set and maintain healthy boundaries

One of my missions as a therapist is to help you develop greater resilience for whatever comes your way. I have faith in this process, and soon you will too.
